Homework for the week of April 26-30

This week all classes will finish up with volume of solid figures. A test on volume will be given to all classes on Tuesday, April 27. All classes will be given a worksheet to use as a study guide. The sheet will be worked on in class and be completed for homework.



Our project for volume will be the unit dog. This project will be done in class beginning on Wednesday, April 28.



Thursday, April 29 math 7 will review evaluating expressions. Homework will come from the 8th grade workbook. Pre-algebra will begin chapter 12, polynominals. Homework will be from lesson 12.1 in the textbook. Exact numbers will be given in class on Thursday.



On Friday, April 30, group one will be on a field trip with Mrs. W. Bryant. This group will visit the Youth Detention center, Family Court, and the Civil Rights Museum. I will be on this trip. Students in groups 2 and 3 will be given review work. This work will be graded. Those in group one will be given the same work the day after their trip.

This week 7th graders will be taking the Alabama Science Assessment on Wednesday, April 7 and the Alabama Writing Assessment on Thursday, April 8. This will take place at the beginnig of the day. That means we will not be attending every class on those 2 days, and I will not be giving homework on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Homework for the week of March 22-26

March 22-26

This week all students will be taking our state reading and math test (ARMT). These tests will be given on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 23 and 24. There will be no posted homework this week . All my students will begin a tessellation project on Tuesday. This project will be done in class and will not be due until next week. There will be no homework until Thursday. We hope that all students will get a good nights sleep and a good breakfast before each test day.

Remember: Next week is Spring Break!! I hope everyone has a safe and happy week off. When we return, we will begin 3 weeks of testing. The students will test 2 days a week for 3 weeks.

Community Math Night
Tonight, CCMS will host math night. Dr. Ruth Parker will be speaking on 'How to help you child at home with math'. Dr. Parker is a dynamic speaker and an expert on math education. There will be no math homework tonight. We hope you will be able to attend this special opportunity. Child care will be available for children 2nd grade and younger. Bonus points will be given to student whose parents attend. The meeting will be in the school lunchroom and begins at 6:30 p. m.

February 15-19
This week all classes began working on their linear equation menu folder. All work was done in class. This folder will be turned in on Friday, February 26. Each student will get to choose which menu problems they want me to grade and I will choose one to grade. These problems are teaching the students how to write a function rule from a chart and a graph. This is one of the concepts which will be on the ARMT test in March.

This week, each class will be assigned a Valentine Project. This project is due on Friday, February 12,2010. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I will be attending a math meeting at Birmingham Southern College. On these two days, all classes will be doing work in class which, if not completed, will be homework. When I return on Thursday, each class will have a test on Probability.

Third Nine Weeks Skills Agenda

During the third nine-week period, Math 7 and Pre-algebra 7 will be covering the following concepts:


  • Geometry and Measurement
  • Patterns and Rules(Linear Functions)
  • Transformations
  • Data Analysis and Probability

These concepts will be covered on the SAT-10 and the ARMT tests which will be given in March, after spring break. Hopefull, everyone will stay healthy and not miss any of this work. If you do get sick, please make arrangements to come before school, any day, or stay after school (on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00) so I can teach these concepts to you.
